The start of my FABFIT BY 45 journey has begun. I chose October 21st 2016 because it is 23 months before my 45th birthday. I want to be fine as wine by 45. I will give bi-weekly and monthly updates and tips, I'm going about this with a combination of what's worked for me before, as far as diet, and the discovery of new things I may have never tried in the past.
To keep it simple, NO RED MEAT, NO FRIED FOODS, NO SODA. I'm a member of I Love Kickboxing and will get more consistent with my attendance. I took 3 "before" pictures, weighed myself and took measurements of my arms, waist, hips and thighs. I will wait to post those once I blog my progress in 3 months so that I have something to compare.
My promise to you is to be as transparent as I can so that you can relate. Join me as I become FABFIT!!

FABFIT Step A
So I've completed the first day of my FABFIT BY 45 journey and it went well. I started my day off with breakfast: one boiled egg, 2 slices of wheat toast with a light honey spread, and a cup of This Really Werks slimming tea that I also sweetened with the honey. Lunch was a workgroup outing to Moonshiners, a few blocks away from my downtown work location. I ordered the shrimp and grits which were very good and spicy. I told the waiter no bacon but she forgot so I ended up moving the bigger pieces to the side. Water and lemon was my drink all day. Dinner was a little lazy: a leftover slice of pizza from earlier in the week. I was rushing to get ready for a night out and I got home later than normal.
There's something very refreshing when u stop craving soda and thirst for more water. Remember staying away from soda and drinking more water makes a huge difference in losing weight because you are reducing your sugar intake. Of course, you must maintain that weight loss by working out, but everything working hand in hand will birth significant results.

FABFIT Step B
Hello my fellow FABFITTERS! I hope you've started your journey off right! Me, I've had 3 "cheat days" in 2 weeks! Lol. Not good! I also have not gone back to kickboxing YET due to a couple of health concerns for which I'm currently getting some attention. But I have been drinking more room temperature water, especially in the mornings to get my digestive system going. I've noticed my craving for soda and sweets has declined...both just seem too sweet for me so I don't want it as much, so that's a great thing.
I want to point out that the times I veer away from my eating plan seem to be when I'm stressed or worried about something. I'm an emotional eater and those of you who share that with me know that it takes extra effort to NOT go to the foods that are bad for you to soothe you. One thing I try to do when I crave the "bad" food is I think about how I would feel AFTER I eat it. Then I hurry to my alternative, healthier option. At the end of the day, I'll still satisfy the hunger, just with better food options. And I'm also happy and don't feel guilty afterward, which is always a plus!
I'll work more physical activity into my days and weeks soon...just gotta get a couple things taken care of and clearance from my doctor before I go full out. I'm ready...my body just ain't YET.
Until next time... #YouVSYou

FABFIT Step C
Hi everyone! Sorry I'm a day behind in updating the blog. I had a busy Saturday yesterday getting all prepped for a fun and random photoshoot! It worked out as good timing though because I can use the photos as part of my "before" images as I continue my FABFIT journey.
Speaking of that journey, it's coming along steadily but now the holidays are here and I'm giving myself a couple of days to get ready for all the temptations. I won't overindulge but I will allow myself to indulge slightly...ever so slightly. Lol.
Something I'm learning...chicken "everything" ain't so bad. I was craving pizza the other day so instead of getting pepperoni I got chicken with tomatoes and a cheese blend. It was so good! And I didn't feel so guilty once I finished eating those two slices.
As far as the active side of my journey, I'm thinking of embarking on a transformation program soon, which will help jumpstart my body into getting in shape. I'll share with you guys once I'm in.
Remember to live fearlessly and love yourself. There's no competition but within your own mind. #YouVSYou

FABFIT Step D
2016. What can I say to you? So many mixed emotions about this year. One word: Prince?? That death hit me harder than I realized. I felt my dad's loss all over again, like it was brand new. Those who know me know that music memories and my dad are ONE in the same for me. RIP
But I can say I'm very proud of myself and the goals I've accomplished in 2016, sometimes just by moving my feet on the things I wanted by faith as I turned up in the right place at the right time, meeting the right people. Some highlights:
• Rejoined my church choir
• Put a big dent in reducing my debt
• Performed in many events around the city
• Posted more positivity on social media
• Continued with my online blog
• Spent more time with Jace before college time
• Joined kickboxing fitness program
I have some health issues I'll be facing in the year to come. It'll temporarily set me back on my fit journey. When I am ready to share I'll let you all know about it. Trusting God with it all.
But all of these goals I'll continue working on as I move forward on reaching other new goals I have made for myself in 2017. You must not worry about what others will say about what you do. Move in silence on a lot of things if that helps you most. (Note the blackouts on my goals pic). Write your goals down (it makes a difference when you see the words on paper), pray over them and just move consistently and by faith!
Cheers to you all, goodbye to 2016 and let's ALL JUMP INTO 2017!!

FABFIT Step E
Hello FabFitters! And hello 2017! Today marks 21 months until my goal date, which also happens to be my 45th birthday. If God sees fit for me to see that day, put your seatbelts on cause I got PLANS! Lol! Ok seriously, on to my FABFIT journey details...This will be short.
This past Thursday I joined a fitness team at work (HealthyWage) and have started back up on my journey of no soda, no fried foods and no red meat. I let myself off the hook during the holidays but now it's back to business I go. I was supposed to post pictures comparing my physical appearance (EEK!) 3 months ago to today, but honestly I had gotten off track with my eating habits, so will save those to post in the next 3 months.
I have still not been back to kickboxing class because of a health issue that I am currently getting checked and tested. This upcoming Wednesday I will need prayer for grace, strength and courage. I thank you in advance. I'm vowing to myself that no matter the outcome I have already won. Spiritually, mentally, physically I have won.
Here's a toast to life's positive changes (God is my President), tummy tucks, karaoke microphones, true love and watermelon.
